What St. Patrick’s Day may reveal about your hearing...

Hi there, It's Dr. Rachel Trinker, Head of Audiology at Audien.

Wishing you a happy St. Patrick's Day!

As an audiologist, today is one I pay close attention to – because loud, festive environments are where most begin to notice changes in their hearing.

In many cases, clarity is the first to go, not volume.

So in quiet settings, many people manage just fine.

But in noisy environments, the brain has to work significantly harder to fill in what the ears are missing.

That shows up in ways most people don't realize are signs:
  • You catch some of the conversation, but lose pieces of it when the background noise picks up
  • You keep asking people to repeat themselves
  • You laugh or respond a beat too late, because you're still processing what was said
  • You find yourself drifting toward the quieter edges of the room
  • You start to feel mentally drained from all the concentration it takes to keep up
If any of these sound familiar, I encourage you not to brush them off.

Audien is offering up to $185 off our best-selling hearing aids – no prescription required.

Hearing loss develops gradually.

Recognizing the early signs and addressing them sooner is one of the best things you can do for your long-term hearing health!

Looking out for you,
Dr. Rachel Trinker
