Geraldo Rivera, the disgraced former Fox News reporter who infamously gave away military secrets on live television, is back under the white-hot lights for recent comments defending Hunter Biden's decision to appear before a public hearing of the House Oversight Committee.
Writing on X, Rivera said Hunter is "calling GOP Rep James Comer's bluff" by sending a letter offering to answer questions in front of the public about the ongoing investigation into his business relationship with his father, President Joe Biden. Attorneys for Hunter called the probe a "cloaked, one-sided process," an assessment that Rivera obviously shared.
"The president's son has surprisingly not only accepted Republican requests that he testify. Hunter is saying he'll do it in public. That shocked & horrified Republicans because their case is an empty embarrassment," Rivera wrote.
Some users saw the opening to once again knock Rivera, who famously called the Second Amendment "stupid" and regularly got into shouting matches with other Fox News hosts before he was fired last year.
Greg Gutfeld, who regularly tangled with Rivera, slammed him earlier this year for appearing on the ultra-liberal "The View" to opine on how former President Donald Trump has turned the Republican Party into a cult following.
"Poor thing. In lieu of flowers we set up a GoFundMe page to get him a barber," Gutfeld said as the audience cackled. "But I credit The View for finally finding a guest with a bigger mustache than their panelists. They're a hairy bunch."
Rivera also took time during his interview to complain that he was treated very "unfairly" during his 22 years at the network.
"I also thought it was very unfair that I was not judged objectively in our disputes, but rather that [Jesse Waters or Greg Gutfeld] was always favored. I was the one, I was suspended three times, my appearances, I had two, three appearances scheduled weekly then bi-weekly, then monthly, then they kind of disappeared, they were canceled in the last day right before I was supposed to go on. So, I was really ticked off," Rivera said.
Most observers believe there are very real risks for Hunter Biden regarding his ongoing criminal investigation into alleged tax evasion and gun charges and a separate expanding probe related to failing to register as a foreign agent during overseas business dealings.
The House GOP, led by conservative stalwarts like Reps. James Comer (R-KY), Jim Jordan (R-OH), and Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), have already shown that President Biden personally received money from Hunter's business activities and are using the disclosure as evidence to support an impeachment proceeding, which could begin within the next few weeks.
