Hi,
I spent the weekend at IRONMAN Boulder 70.3, and the heat told the whole story. 90% of the bike and all of the run sit in full sun, and you could watch athletes backing out there.
I was counting bottles to see how many Feed Bottles I could see. My self worth is directly tied to how many Feed bottles I see on bikes. I know I need a hobby.
I saw a bunch, but the majority that didn’t have Feed Bottles, had Camelbak Insulated bottles. Bike after bike.
Here's why that matters more than it sounds. When your bottle turns to bathwater around mile 20, you don't decide to stop drinking. You just drink less. A sip here instead of a real pull.
Warm fluid is hard to want when you're already cooking - and the second you back off your fluids, your fueling and your core temp both start working against you. Even in training this kills your performance faster than anything.
So the problem isn't your willpower. It's the warm bottle and a missed opportunity.
What if your bottle not only was cold, but it was cold enough to help cool your core? This is why riders in the Tour de France now get bottles filled with an electrolyte slushy mix.
You are literally putting ice cold fluid inside you to help pull your core temp down, the added bonus is you are also hydrating and high carb fueling.
Which brings me to our Race Day Insulated Bottle - back in stock after the first run sold months ago.
Same soft, easy-squeeze feel as the regular Race Day bottle, now double walled, built to hold cold fluid for at least an hour.
And it fixes the thing most insulated bottles get wrong: ours stays squeezable. No fighting a frozen brick for a drink.
A few specs:
- 650ml
- Holds cold 60 min or more
- Easy-squeeze, even pre-chilled
The pro tip that actually changes your training or race:
- Fill ~20% with water or hydration mix
- Freeze it overnight
- In the morning, top off with your High Carb or hydration.
Now your drink sits on a block of ice built into the bottom. My standard bottle is a hot mess in fifteen minutes, this trick kept mine cold for almost two hours.
How much is this magical cold bottle? How about Free?
As part of my mission to get everyone using Feed Bottles, I’m giving you the Race Day INSULATED Bottle for free with any over $50 today.
Given how fast the first run went, the restock won't sit around.
