Scroll down for Today's Recipe: Chocolate Swirl Roll | | | Hey there, | | Is a stubborn cough driving you nuts? I've been there, and it's no fun at all! But I've got some tips that just might do the trick.
Here's how to stop coughing and start feeling better: Gargle Saltwater: It's an oldie but a goodie for reducing throat irritation. Dissolving a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water and gargling with it can help to reduce swelling, cleanse the throat, and loosen mucus, providing immediate relief. Steam It Out: Inhaling steam from a hot shower or a bowl of hot water can work wonders for your respiratory system. The steam helps to moisturize dry or irritated airways, break up mucus, and reduce the urge to cough, making it a simple yet effective home remedy. Peppermint Tea: Not only is peppermint tea naturally soothing, but it also possesses properties that help to break down mucus and ease congestion. The menthol in peppermint acts as a natural decongestant, helping to thin mucus and reduce coughing. Elevate Your Head: When it's time to catch some Zs, using an extra pillow to elevate your head can make a big difference. This position helps to promote drainage and prevents mucus from pooling in your throat, reducing coughing and helping you get a good night's sleep. Give Your Brain Proper Nutrition: Your brain plays a key role in regulating bodily functions, and providing it with the proper nutrition can help to naturally "turn down" the phlegm and ease your cough. There are specific nutrients that are particularly beneficial for this purpose. And hey, I've got a special treat for you: a chance to try our fabulous doctor-formulated cough-stopper for free! | Today's Recipe: Chocolate Swirl Roll | |
Ingredients 1/3 second spray coconut oil 1 1/3 cups Xylitol 5 tablespoons Undutched Cocoa Powder 9 large Eggs (Whole) 2 tablespoons Almond Flour 1/4 teaspoon Salt 1 1/3 cups Coconut Cream 2 ounces Unsweetened Baking Chocolate Squares 8 tablespoons Unsalted Butter 1/4 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Directions
Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray a jellyroll pan with coconut oil spray; line with parchment, leaving a 2-inch border, spray again. Set aside.
In a large bowl, whisk together 1 cup xylitol, 4 tablespoons Undutched Cocoa Powder and almond flour.
In another large bowl, beat egg yolks with an electric mixer on high speed until pale yellow and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Turn speed down to low and slowly mix in cocoa mixture until just combined.
In another bowl, beat egg whites and salt with an electric mixer on high speed until stiff peaks form, about 3 minutes. Fold 1/3 of the whites into yolk mixture until just combined. Fold in remaining egg whites. Spread batter evenly in prepared pan. Bake 15 minutes, until cake springs back when lightly touched and pulls away from sides of the pan. Cool cake in pan on wire rack for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
While cake is cooling, prepare filling and frosting. For the filling, whip 1 cup cream and 1 1/2 tablespoons xylitol in a medium bowl until stiff peaks form (do not overbeat).
For the frosting, gradually combine 1/3 cup coconut cream and melted chocolate in a large bowl. With an electric mixer on medium speed, beat in butter, 5 tablespoons xylitol , 1 tablespoon SANE Cocoa Powder and vanilla. Beat until smooth and fluffy, about 4 minutes. Chill in refrigerator until ready to use.
When cake is cool, slide cake from pan with parchment underneath. Place on counter top. Spread filling over cake, leaving a 1/2 inch border. Roll up cake from narrow end, using parchment to help. Cut 1-inch diagonal pieces from each end. Transfer roll to a serving platter; place cut diagonal pieces on either side to form log stumps. Set aside.
To assemble: Use a generous dab of frosting to attach stumps to main log. Frost entire log, and run fork tines through frosting to create a bark-like texture.
